The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled in favor of students’ rights in our Maine school choice case Carson v. Makin, which we brought together with the Institute for Justice.
The Supreme Court decision affirms that states cannot discriminate in student-aid programs against parents who want to send their children to religious schools.
In response to this landmark ruling, Kelly Shackelford, President, CEO, and Chief Counsel for First Liberty Institute said:
“We are thrilled that the Court affirmed once again that religious discrimination will not be tolerated in this country. Parents in Maine, and all over the country, can now choose the best education for their kids without fearing retribution from the government. This is a great day for religious liberty in America.”
We know that we could not have won at the Supreme Court without you. But our work to defend our constitutional right to live according to our faith is far from over.
And right now, the opportunities to impact religious liberty in America are unlike anything we’ve seen. Together we have a chance to make history — and we’re inviting YOU to be a part of it.
