Fred Frost volunteers with First Liberty, serving as Of Counsel and working on a variety of special projects. Before joining First Liberty, Fred practiced law for over forty years representing the full range of clients from individuals to large public companies in primarily commercial disputes and opportunities and related investigations and compliance matters involving state and federal authorities, as well as governments around the world. He spent the last 28 years of that period with Exxon Mobil Corporation, retiring in 2024 as Executive Counsel.
Fred holds a J.D. from Vanderbilt University School of Law, where in 1984 he graduated with high honors and earned admission to the Order of the Coif. In 1981 he graduated with high honors and a degree in Finance and History from Huntingdon College, where he is a member of the Athletic Hall of Fame (for golf) and serves on the Board of Trustees.
A member of the State Bar of Texas since 1984, Fred serves the legal profession through mentoring, pro bono work, and published legal writing. He is a member of Scribes-The American Society of Legal Writers, through which he recently published “Going Short for High Returns – A Practitioners Guide to Investing in Lawyer-to-Client Executive Summaries.”
For decades, Fred has served on the boards of many faith-based ministries. He has led multiple capital campaigns for schools, ministries, and churches. Fred’s authentic passion for religious liberty runs very deep in his DNA. His paternal ancestors fled religious persecution in England in 1635 with an impoverished Puritan congregation that settled in Massachusetts. Fred’s heart-felt zeal for the religious liberty of his clients is hard to miss.
