Punishing America’s Heroes?
After representing 35 U.S. Navy SEALs who were threatened with punishment, involuntary separation or even court-martial, First Liberty secured a huge victory for our service members. Why did the military turn on its own members? Because they sought a legal, religious accommodation to the military vaccine mandate. First Liberty won for the SEALs at every stage in the process, and we never backed down. We’ll keep fighting for the religious liberty of our Navy SEAL clients and all service members.
Discrimination is the Wrong Prescription
Robyn Strader—a nurse practitioner with multiple, advanced degrees—was fired from CVS Pharmacy after CVS had accommodated her religious beliefs without issue for six and a half years. Why? Because CVS wants to force its employees to prescribe contraception even when it violates the employee’s religious beliefs.
Federal law is clear: Employers may not fire, demote, refuse a promotion, or otherwise take adverse action against employees because of religious beliefs that they could accommodate. And that’s why First Liberty secured a victory for her.
Worship Not Permitted?
Two years ago, White Rock Chapel applied for building permits so it could make improvements to its property.
But the city refused to grant the permits. Hostile neighbors have also kept the church from making renovations.
We sent a letter to the city explaining the First Amendment and we convinced the City Council in Addison, Texas to unanimously approve a zoning application for the church.
Blind Faith
Gail Blair was faced with an incredible injustice, she was banned from a park solely because she wanted to share her faith. But First Liberty did not let this injustice stand. We fought for Gail and her right to live out her faith according to her calling – and we WON. After being threatened with arrest, Gail could have sat back and let the park authorities win, but she made us her first call and we protected her right to live out her faith.
This victory is not only significant for Gail but helps ALL Americans who want to share their faith without threat of retaliation.
The Case Heard Around the Country
First Liberty secured a critical victory for On Fire Christian Church in Louisville, KY. FLI’s attorneys reached a settlement with the city mayor that will allow On Fire to continue hosting CDC-compliant drive-in services.
This critical first win was “the lawsuit heard across the nation” amidst the current COVID-19 crisis, and we believe it will become THE seminal case for protecting our Constitutional right to freely live out our faith moving forward.
