Lexington, KY – The following statement from First Liberty Institute regarding Governor Beshear’s executive order regarding the reopening of schools may be attributed to Hiram Sasser, Executive General Counsel at First Liberty Institute:
“As we argued in our lawsuit against Governor Beshear’s order closing religious schools, the first amendment guarantees the freedom of parents and religious schools to practice their faith through religious education, free from discriminatory government interference. Government officials around the nation must recognize that our God-given rights are still protected, even in a crisis, and especially from irrational and discriminatory government orders. We will continue to fight against discriminatory actions that undermine our first freedom.”
First Liberty represents Danville Christian Academy in Danville, Kentucky in a lawsuit challenging Governor Beshear’s November order closing religious schools.
