Statement Regarding Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Defense of Ten Commandments Law
Bill recognizes historic role of Ten Commandments in development of state law.
Baton Rouge, LA— Today, Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill’s office filed its opening brief in defense of a state law requiring the posting of the Ten Commandments in schools and colleges that receive public funding. The following statement can be attributed to Kelly Shackelford, President, CEO, and Chief Counsel for First Liberty Institute:
We are grateful for the strong leadership of Attorney General Murrill in defending this important law. Placing this historic document on schoolhouse walls is a great way to remind students of the foundations of American and Louisiana law and it fits perfectly in the history and tradition of America. First Liberty was grateful to play a part in helping this become law in Louisiana and will support General Murrill in any way we can.
