Statement Regarding Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal’s Decision Blocking Louisiana Ten Commandments Law

New Orleans, LA—Today, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit issued a decision blocking Louisiana’s Ten Commandments law.  The following statement may be attributed to Kelly Shackelford, President, CEO, and Chief Counsel for First Liberty Institute:

We are extremely disappointed the Fifth Circuit defied Supreme Court precedent and struck down Louisiana’s constitutional statute that requires the posting of the Ten Commandments in schools.  The Ten Commandments are part of the history and tradition of our country, and we hope that the full Fifth Circuit will step in to correct this grievous error.
