Religious Liberty Law Firm Praises Frisco ISD for Providing Path for Christian Club “DOLLS” at Local High School
The new club will center around creating space for girls to discuss Christian topics.
Frisco, TX—Today, First Liberty Institute praised the Frisco, TX Independent School District (“ISD”) for granting initial approval for a new Daughters of Our Living Lord & Savior (“DOLLS”) club to meet on campus at Reedy High School. The club’s purpose is to further conversation about Jesus Christ by sharing the gospel, speaking about Christian principles, and encouraging girls to become Christian leaders in their various spheres.
“We are grateful that after receiving our call about the legality of DOLLS forming, the Frisco ISD quickly handled the situation to ensure the school was in compliance with the law,” said Holly Randall, Counsel at First Liberty. “Frisco ISD’s actions serve as a model for how all school districts should follow the Constitution and Department of Education Guidelines.”
“Girls need to have a space where they feel comfortable to talk about God,” said freshman and Vice President of DOLLS at Reedy High School, Evie Dutchik. “DOLLS gives me the opportunity to help girls grow in their faith in a space where they feel safe, seen, and supported. I am so grateful to Frisco ISD for helping us and am excited to start this new, important club at my high school.”
Gale Carter, Executive Director and Founder of DOLLS, stated, “Students are drawn to DOLLS because the chapters target a female audience that desires to discuss their faith at a theologically rich level and who value the challenge and experience of running a student-led club that upholds a high standard of accountability and leadership excellence.”
DOLLS’ mission is to “be a tool used by students to invite their peers to hear the saving message of Jesus Christ.” DOLLS clubs can be found across public school campuses in the North Dallas area, spanning four school districts. Clubs host weekly meetings which include Biblical conversations, worship, a devotional, and a time of prayer. The new DOLLS club at Reedy High School is the first chapter back in Frisco ISD since 2017.
First Liberty Institute is committed to protecting the religious liberty rights of students in public schools.
