Instead, to uphold our democratic process, we should allow the American people to speak on this issue in November. After that, the next president and Senate can jointly make an appointment. Anything the Senate does before January 20, 2017, to consider a nominee would undermine democracy by denying the American people a voice in the future of their country.”
