A Warm Welcome to Our Newest Senior Counsel
This week, we’re welcoming Nate Kellum, who’s joining our legal team as Senior Counsel. Nate will manage First Liberty’s newly opened Memphis office.
“Nate’s wealth of experience and innovative legal ideas will greatly complement our incredible legal team,” said Kelly Shackleford, President, CEO, and Chief Counsel for First Liberty. “As we work to defend religious liberty for all Americans it is vital that we have the best talent in all areas of our firm. We are excited to add Nate to our team.”
Nate said, “I am thrilled to join First Liberty in its fight to defend religious liberty for all Americans. It is paramount that we protect our God-given inalienable right to practice and express our faith without government interference, and no law firm in America is more committed to that than First Liberty.”
Prior to joining First Liberty, Nate founded the Center for Religious Expression, serving as its president and chief counsel. He also served as Senior Counsel with our friends at the Alliance Defending Freedom and before that, he was Litigation Counsel for the American Family Association.
Nate has defended religious liberty in courtrooms in virtually every state in the country for over three decades, appearing before numerous federal appellate courts, and winning many landmark decisions. He is also a constitutional scholar, authoring two published law review articles. Nate earned his law degree from the University of Mississippi, graduating with honors in 1988. He is admitted to the bar in Tennessee and Mississippi, and he resides in Memphis.
Welcome aboard, Nate!
