During the holiday season, the city of Bryan, Ohio insists on stopping Dad’s Place Church from keeping its doors open to anyone who needs help or temporary shelter. City officials even got a local judge to issue an order that would force the church to kick everyone out onto the cold, hard streets—at a time when the temperature is well below freezing.
First Liberty won a temporary stay from the Ohio Court of Appeals preventing the Bryan judge’s order from being enforced. But this legal battle is far from over. Depending on how the Ohio Court of Appeals rules, the stay could be lifted, allowing the city of Bryan to clear out Dad’s Place.
For now, Pastor Chris Avell can keep the church doors open to serve the most vulnerable in the community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. As Pastor Chris says, “We’re not going to send them out on the streets.”
