We’re only one week away from the release of “Average Joe,” a movie dramatizing Coach Kennedy’s life story, which will be in a theater near you beginning on Oct. 10th and 11th. Show your support for Coach Joe by going to the movies on opening weekend.
First Liberty was in Hollywood earlier this week alongside Coach Kennedy as he walked the red carpet for the first special screening of the movie:
The movie recounts Coach Joe’s story, beginning with his childhood in foster care followed by 20 years in the Marine Corps. The film focuses on his biggest battle: his commitment to stand for God publicly by taking a knee in prayer after each game. When he was fired for living out his faith, Joe and his wife Denise soon knew this battle for religious freedom and the rights of all Americans was one they would have to fight.
After years of fighting in court, First Liberty secured a historic victory for Coach Kennedy at the U.S. Supreme Court in 2022. That landmark ruling set a precedent that completely changed the landscape of religious freedom law in our country. Thanks to Coach Kennedy’s courage and perseverance throughout his case, Americans now have more religious freedom than they’ve had in 50 years.
