In just a few days—on Monday, February 6—our U.S. Navy SEAL clients will have their day in court. We will be arguing their case at the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
In addition to defending our 35 Navy SEAL clients, our legal team will also be defending all Navy service members whose careers and livelihoods are being threatened because they requested legal, religious accommodations to the vaccine mandate.
If you’ve followed our Navy and Air Force cases, you know the Biden administration and Pentagon officials have pursued a punitive approach toward religious service members. Our military heroes have been mistreated, discriminated against, denied deployment and advancement opportunities, or even thrown out of the military, simply because they wanted to serve in a manner consistent with their beliefs.
With God’s favor and your support, we’ve secured some critical victories along the way. We were the first to win a federal injunction and class certification that protected not just our Navy SEALs but everyone in the Navy who requested a religious accommodation.
However, countless military personnel are facing restrictive deployment decisions, threats to future promotion opportunities and even unjust punishment by their commanders.
That’s why this federal court battle is so important. A favorable ruling for our Navy clients could be a major victory for thousands serving our nation. This is our opportunity to make sure service members are not punished for their faith.
In these final days before we go to court, we’re asking you to please continue praying for the Navy SEALs, and for the thousands who will be impacted by this case.
One of our clients, known in court documents as Navy SEAL #3, expressed his gratitude to all First Liberty supporters who’ve provided him with spiritual strength:
“The prayers that they’ve been saying for us have been working, so keep sending them and continue to pray for us, First Liberty Institute, for our nation as a whole, and the military so that we would take responsibility for our actions and course correct. And not only that, pray for the ones that are a little hard of heart, that aren’t supportive of the cause, that they would have a change of heart as well.”
Our Navy clients are counting on us, along with their families. Their careers, their livelihoods and their lives have been devastated by the Pentagon’s harsh and unlawful approach. It’s up to us to give them the spiritual support they need as this case is being argued.
Here are some encouraging and uplifting messages we’ve received from you and many of First Liberty’s supporters:
Additionally, we humbly ask you to please pray for:
As First Liberty prepares for this important court date, we can’t thank you enough. We would not have been able to bring the Navy case this far without your help
Your prayers and encouragement have been force multipliers in this battle—as well as your financial support.Right now, there’s still a special opportunity for you to impact the future of religious liberty for service members. Please give to First Liberty today. In this final stretch, your support can still make a huge difference. Will you donate today and help us defend the heroes who defend us?
