We recently received some great news in our case involving Shields of Strength.

Shields of Strength is a faith-based company that graciously provides replica military dog tags with inspirational Bible verses to active-duty service members, veterans, and their families. For more than 25 years they’ve produced over four million dog tags, with two million of which Shields donated to our brave men and women in uniform.

First Liberty has been defending Shields of Strength in federal court for several years. After an anti-religious group filed a complaint against the company, the Department of Defense imposed an illegal prohibition on Shields producing and distributing its dog tags containing biblical scripture and military insignia. Production was wrongfully halted more than five years ago, and we are now finally one step closer to proving that the DoD’s discriminatory actions are illegal.

This is because a federal district court recently issued a decision that will allow the case to move forward, which is great news for our clients.

It’s also great news for the brave men and women in uniform and their families who gain divine inspiration from Shields of Strength’s dog tags that are forever a reminder of God’s promise and their dedication to military service. Through First Liberty’s efforts, victory is in sight, and we are hopeful that Shields will once again distribute its popular military-themed dog tags that have helped countless military heroes find strength through faith.

However, we still have a lot of work to do to make sure Shields of Strength gets a complete win in court.

Here’s Senior Counsel Danielle Runyan, who serves as First Liberty’s Military Affairs Practice Group Chair, breaking down this recent court decision:
