First Liberty President & CEO Kelly Shackelford has the distinct honor of serving on the Board of Trustees of the U.S. Supreme Court Historical Society.
The Society is an organization dedicated to preserving and collecting the history of the Supreme Court and increasing public awareness of the Court’s contribution to our nation’s rich constitutional heritage.
Back in 2013, Kelly had an incredible opportunity to give a speech at the Society. He was introduced by Associate Justice Samuel Alito.
You’ll get to hear Kelly’s speech in our newest podcast episode. He discusses Tinker v. Des Moines, a case that the ACLU fought to protect students’ free speech rights to protest the Vietnam War. But as it turns out, Tinker became a landmark case laying a foundation to protect religious freedom and public expression for public school students.
