Sign Your Personal Note of Encouragement for Melissa Klein Today

Melissa Klein | First Liberty

For Melissa, running her family bakery was much more than just a business. It was her passion, her artistic expression, a second home—and a legacy to pass on to her children.

It was a dream come true. Until the State of Oregon came along and took it all away just because Melissa politely refused to create a same-sex wedding cake. She was forced to close her family business, penalized $135,000, and has endured numerous threats of violence—all for simply practicing her religious beliefs at her own business.

This shocking barrage of hostility has made life very difficult for the Klein family. Her husband Aaron went to work driving a garbage truck to support their five children, while she has done her best to pick up freelance jobs. Besides the financial burden and the stress of being sued, they have even received graphic death threats.

Thankfully, there is hope. First Liberty is fighting tooth and nail to secure justice for Melissa and her family. And just this past year, the U.S. Supreme Court vacated the Oregon Appeals Court’s decision against the Kleins—essentially rebuking the State of Oregon and ordering them to re-examine the case.

But even with this encouraging step in the right direction, the Kleins journey has been a long and difficult one — and nobody should ever have to go through religious persecution alone.

Please take a moment to write a message of encouragement for Melissa and her family today. We need to let this kind-hearted, hardworking mother of 5 know that her fellow Americans have her back in this fight.

Please fill out your letter of support to Melissa below, and tell her: “I stand with you in your decision to run your business according to your faith.”
