The Restoring Faith in America initiative is First Liberty’s way of “going on offense.” After the win with Coach Kennedy at the Supreme Court and the overturning of the Lemon test, the leadership at First Liberty realized the opportunity Coach Kennedy’s case created to inspire, educate and activate citizens across the country to more boldly live out their faith.

Restoring Faith in America is leading the way by organizing projects at the state level to help implement laws that encourage and allow for specific types of displays to return to the public square.

Following the passage of a West Virginia bill this year allowing “In God We Trust” posters to be displayed in common areas in public schools and universities, a coalition of organizations including Patriot Mobile, American History & Heritage Foundation, and Patriot Academy locked arms to implement the law throughout the state.

Last month, a press conference was held at the West Virginia Capitol where more than 2,000 displays were handed out to volunteers in attendance. Patriot Mobile generously donated the funds to purchase and distribute the 16”x20” posters in at least two locations in every school in the state. Support for the effort was so high that some school superintendents chose to put up the displays in EVERY CLASSROOM in their district!

Gov. Patrick Morrisey spoke at the press conference, joined by other lawmakers in support of the legislation, and encouraged citizens to respect religious freedom. Sen. Mike Azinger, the bill sponsor, led the press conference and has been a huge help in mobilizing West Virginians to action.

More than 30 volunteers came from all over the state to attend the press conference and personally pick up the displays for their adopted school districts. It was truly a testament to the impact that can be made when we all come together and work in unity to advance religious liberty.

We are so thankful for all the people stepping up to become RFIA FaithBlazers and getting active in their communities. Here is what one volunteer had to say about her experience:

“It was an honor to be a part of this project. I was welcomed by our superintendent and he said he was visiting all the schools tomorrow and would be delivering the posters. He was very pleased with the quality of the posters and was excited to have them donated for our schools.”

RFIA FaithBlazers are also helping to organize the distribution of Ten Commandments displays in classrooms across Texas and Arkansas. More than 5,000 schools have been impacted so far through the efforts of a coalition of organizations at Restore America’s Schools.

And in Georgia, teams of people are getting historical documents placed in county courthouses throughout the state.

These positive and encouraging stories are contagious! We hope you will consider joining us as a FaithBlazer in one of our state projects or contributing financially so we can run more projects like this in more states across the country.
