Life-Affirming Reproductive Health Facilities Need Protection Too

First Liberty attorney Jeremy Dys wrote an op-ed in The Boston Globe discussing recent attacks on life-affirming pregnancy resource centers in Massachusetts.

Our attorneys recently sent a letter to state Attorney General Maura Healey, asking her to enforce the law and ensure that life-affirming pregnancy resource centers are protected from vandalism and threats.

Dys writes:

“We are still waiting for Attorney General Maura Healey to ask the public for tips that might lead to the arrest of the vandals—actual criminals—who attacked these facilities.”

Supreme Court Ruling on Religious Schools Has Broader National Impact

Conservative Brief reports that the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent decision in First Liberty’s Treat Children Fairly case (Carson v. Makin) has opened the door for more educational options around the country. For example, the decision paved the way for the West Virginia Supreme Court to reverse a lower court decision that blocked a public scholarship fund for use at private schools.

Christian Leaders Object to VP Harris’ Claim They Don’t Have To ‘Abandon’ Faith to Support Abortion

Faith leaders are responding to Vice President Kamala Harris, who reiterated her position that Americans do not have to “abandon their faith” to support abortion rights, Fox News reports. Presidents from major religious organizations including Concordia Theological Seminary, the Southern Baptist Convention and the bishop of the Diocese of Winona-Rochester in Minnesota have criticized the Vice President’s statements.

Tulsi Gabbard leaves Democratic Party, Cites ‘Wokeness’ and Hostility to ‘People of Faith’

Catholic News Agency reports that former Hawaii congresswoman and 2020 presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard is leaving the Democratic Party, citing the party’s infringement on the freedom of speech, freedom of religion and its hostility to people of faith.

“Any political party that is trying to erase the presence of God from every facet of public life and is hostile towards those who choose to worship God cannot be trusted to protect our inalienable God-given rights enshrined in the Constitution, and therefore should not be in power,” Gabbard said in a 30-minute YouTube video explaining her decision.

Are The Culture Wars Changing How Christian Students Choose Colleges?

Religion News Service reports that many Christian families are reconsidering and reevaluating the college decision process, swaying them away from colleges marked “too liberal” or “too conservative.” Politics and social issues are increasingly shaping the way that students choose an education, as parents and families are worried about what they see as encroachment of radical ideology on traditional religious beliefs.

America Needs a New Religious Awakening

Joseph Lieberman—who was the Democratic vice-presidential nominee in 2000 and a U.S. Senator from Connecticut from 1989 to 2013—recently wrote an op-ed in Fox News. He writes that for America to emerge from the current depths of “division, anger, distrust, and pessimism,” our nation needs to return to founding values of faith, freedom and the rule of law.

Sen. Ron Johnson Doubts Senate Viability of ‘Respect for Marriage’ Act

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) flatly opposes the “Respect for Marriage” Act and predicts the bill will fail to clear the 60-vote filibuster hurdle for passage on the Senate floor if introduced after the midterm elections, The Washington Examiner reports.

The radical “Respect for Marriage Act” is a threat to religious freedom. It is an attack on millions of religious Americans who simply want to live their lives consistent with their deeply held beliefs. If you’d like to take action, we encourage you to sign First Liberty’s petition here.
