On Palm Sunday, the President issued a remarkable and powerful proclamation to commemorate Holy Week and Easter, as well as reiterating his administration’s commitment to protect religious liberty.
“My Administration renews its promise to defend the Christian faith in our schools, military, workplaces, hospitals, and halls of government,” the proclamation read. “We will never waver in safeguarding the right to religious liberty, upholding the dignity of life, and protecting God in our public square.”
“We pray that America will remain a beacon of faith, hope, and freedom for the entire world, and we pray to achieve a future that reflects the truth, beauty, and goodness of Christ’s eternal kingdom in Heaven,” the statement continued.
Faith leaders and religious media outlets expressed support for the proclamation, pointing to the President’s acknowledgement that “the glory of Easter Sunday cannot come without the sacrifice Jesus Christ made on the cross.”
“I’m thankful for President @realDonaldTrump and the White House Faith Office, and I look forward to being there this week,” the Rev. Franklin Graham posted on X. Graham was invited to the White House to lead a special worship service for staff.
Ben Johnson at The Washington Stand, published by Family Research Council, said it was “a remarkably erudite and theologically precise presidential message on Palm Sunday.”
Michael Foust at Crosswalk echoed that sentiment, writing that “it is rare for Easter proclamations to delve so deeply into theological themes.”
In a Truth Social post, the President said “America is a nation of believers,” adding that “we need God, we want God and, with his help, we will make our nation stronger, safer, greater, more prosperous, and more united than ever before.”

To complement the proclamation, the White House Faith Office organized several events throughout the week leading up to Resurrection Sunday.
“The newly created White House Faith Office is grateful to share that President Trump will honor and celebrate Holy Week and Easter with the observance it deserves,” Jennifer Korn, a director of the Faith Office, told Fox News Digital.
On Wednesday, the White House hosted pre-Easter dinner that featured a time of worship and prayer, including hymns performed by Christian singer Charles Billingsley. Pastors, priests and other faith leaders attended the event along with Paula White, senior advisor to the Faith Office. Rev. Graham and Pastor Jentezen Franklin led the group in prayer.
Along with Easter, the President sent a message commemorating Passover, the Jewish holidays celebrating God’s liberation of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt.
“I want to wish the Jewish people in America and Israel, and all around the world, a very happy Passover,” the President said. “The story of Exodus, which is retold around the globe and all over the world at every Passover Seder, is a reminder not only of the enduring strength of the Jewish people, but of the importance of putting our faith in Almighty God no matter what the circumstance.”
“To all the Jewish families gathering with friends and loved ones this week, have a blessed Passover, and may God continue to watch over the Jewish people, the State of Israel, and the United States of America,” the President concluded.
Since Inauguration Day, many important policy changes have been made to help safeguard religious liberty for Americans of all faiths—including many First Liberty clients who are fighting in court for their rights.
“A series of presidential executive orders will benefit religious liberty, including ending the weaponization of the federal government against perceived political opponents, commonplace in the left’s attempt to impose it’s woke ideology on Americans,” said Kelly Shackelford, President, CEO & Chief Counsel for First Liberty.

“The administration’s effort to restore our First Freedom has been relentless and has not stopped,” Shackelford added. “And to that, many Americans say, ‘Amen.’”
