Biden Nominee to Lead Health and Human Services Deemed a Danger Says Religious Liberty Law Firm
Washington, DC—The following statement may be attributed to Mike Berry, General Counsel to First Liberty Institute:
President Biden’s nominee for Secretary of HHS, Xavier Becerra, has a long track record of hostility to religious freedom. As California Attorney General, Becerra repeatedly attacked religious freedom protections for healthcare professionals and declared those protections “offensive” and “dangerous.” Despite losing his case at the US Supreme Court, Becerra also doubled down and sought to enforce an unconstitutional law that targeted faith-based crisis pregnancy centers. By choosing Xavier Becerra as his Secretary of HHS, President Biden sends a dire warning that people of faith are not welcome under his administration. Congress must ensure that our nation’s leaders will uphold their duty to protect religious liberty for all Americans.
