Texas Board of Education Adopts New Curriculum that Includes Optional Religious Instruction for Elementary Students

Austin, TX—Today, the Texas State Board of Education adopted new curriculum guidelines that include optional religious education for elementary school students. The following statement may be attributed to Keisha Russell, Senior Counsel for First Liberty Institute:

“Supreme Court precedent has repeatedly confirmed that the Bible is appropriate for instruction in history, literature, poetry, music, art, government, social customs, values, and behavioral sciences. We fully support the Texas State Board of Education’s decision.”
