On December 3rd, First Liberty will be at the U.S. Supreme Court arguing for Mississippi evangelist Gabriel Olivier. Who will be going before the justices to make the case for our client? One of the best attorneys in America: Allyson Ho.

Allyson is a partner at Gibson, Dunn, & Crutcher LLP, one of the country’s—and indeed the world’s—most respected and prestigious law firms. She is co-chair of their nationwide Appellate and Constitutional Law practice group.

Allyson is a seasoned and elite litigator. She has presented over 100 oral arguments in federal and state courts nationwide, including six high-stakes business cases before the Supreme Court.

She’s also no stranger to winning at the highest levels. Some of her largest wins include multiple Supreme Court decisions overturning precedent that harmed the business community, several multi-billion-dollar and nine-figure reversals in both federal and state appellate courts across the country, and critical class certification reversals and significant constitutional rulings.

Beyond her remarkable success as an appellate litigator, Allyson has a distinguished record of service at the highest levels of the federal government. This year, Allyson was appointed by President Trump to the nation’s first Religious Liberty Commission, where she serves alongside First Liberty President, CEO & Chief Counsel Kelly Shackelford.

Allyson is a friend and one of First Liberty’s longest-serving volunteer attorneys. She has graciously donated her time and expertise to work on numerous cases that impacted religious liberty in a major way, including the Mojave Desert Cross, Mt. Soledad Veterans Memorial and our Candy Cane cases.

With the court date for Gabe fast approaching, we sat down with Allyson to talk about what it takes to prepare a case and argument at the Supreme Court.

She also shared why representing religious Americans like Gabe is more than just a job. For her, it’s a calling— a way to use her God-given talents, opportunities and skills to protect the most fundamental right of all Americans.

Watch below:

How did First Liberty manage to draft such a distinguished and accomplished lawyer to argue for our clients? It’s thanks to our volunteer attorney model.

While other nonprofit legal organizations rely mainly on staff attorneys, First Liberty does something different. We combine the experience and prowess of our in-house attorneys with a national network of volunteer attorneys from the nation’s top law firms—such as Gibson Dunn.

Clients usually pay lawyers like Allyson top dollar for their legal services. But when they come alongside First Liberty, they give our clients the best representation free of charge. That’s why our clients will never get a bill from us.

Allyson and other volunteer attorneys across America are experts in their field and know the ins-and-outs of the law in the states and regions where they practice, giving First Liberty a distinct “home-field” advantage when arguing cases.

Thanks to this model—and to God’s favor—First Liberty maintains an unparalleled victory rate, winning more than 90% of all legal matters.

Allyson is, without a doubt, one of the best attorneys in the country. She is a persuasive, winsome and passionate litigator whose record and decades of experience speak for themselves.

First Liberty is beyond grateful and blessed to have Allyson as a volunteer attorney, and couldn’t think of anyone better equipped to present Gabe’s case to the highest court in the land.

Please keep praying for Allyson. Pray for wisdom, discernment and clarity as she polishes her arguments over the next couple of weeks. Pray that God uses her decades of experience and preparation to shine through when defending Gabe.
