Report: School forced valedictorian to censor all references to his faith from speech

Sam Blackledge,  co-valedictorian of the 2018 graduating class of West Prairie High School in Illinois, was told just hours before his graduation speech that he had to either censor all references to his faith or not give his address at all.

“They said they didn’t want to make it a religious ceremony. They told me that if I took out Christ I could say everything else,” Blackledge said.

Students don’t give up their free speech and religious freedom rights when they walk onto a public school campus. Jeremy Dys of First Liberty Institute explained this case on today’s show and shared how the nonprofit is fighting for Blackledge’s religious freedom and the rights of all students.
