Please join us in congratulating Kassie Dulin—who served as First Liberty Counsel and Senior Director of External Affairs in our D.C. office—on her recent appointment to the White House Faith Office.

Kassie will take on a new role as a policy advisor and work alongside the Faith Office leadership team appointed by the President. She will be responsible for implementing and fulfilling the Faith Office’s mission to empower faith-based entities, community organizations and houses of worship, as well as to strengthen American families and protect religious freedom.

The President’s executive order established the Faith Office as part of the administration’s effort to ensure that “all executive departments and agencies honor and enforce the Constitution’s guarantee of religious liberty and to ending any form of religious discrimination by the Federal Government.”

“Kassie is a talented leader and a great person and will be an excellent choice for this important position at the White House Faith Office,” said First Liberty President, CEO and Chief Counsel Kelly Shackelford. “We extend our heartfelt congratulations and have full assurance that she will be a strong defender of the First Amendment and religious freedom for all Americans.”

With more than a decade of service at First Liberty, Kassie was an integral part of our legal and government affairs teams.

As Senior Director of External Affairs, she developed, implemented and led strategic initiatives to advance and protect religious freedom. We commend Kassie for her outstanding contributions and dedication to major First Liberty projects including Supreme Court Coup, a highly successful national campaign that educated millions of Americans about the dangers of court-packing and “court reform.” Kassie also played a major role in our judicial nominees initiative, which evaluates the record of nominees for the federal judiciary.

As Counsel, Kassie focused on appellate litigation and played a central role in many of First Liberty’s most important cases. She served on the legal team that successfully litigated and won three U.S. Supreme Court victories, including Kennedy v. Bremerton, Groff v. DeJoy and Klein v. Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries.

Kassie also served as Director of Government Affairs and Chief Communications Officer. Prior to First Liberty, she worked on local, state and national political campaigns, and consulted with non-profit organizations.

“To protect Americans’ First Freedom, our federal government needs experienced, principled and passionate leaders—and that’s exactly who the administration is getting in Kassie,” said Jeff Mateer, First Liberty Executive Vice President and Chief Operating/Legal Officer. “Kassie’s many accomplishments in defense of religious freedom and legal acumen make her an ideal appointee for the Faith Office.”

Kassie received her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Trinity Graduate School and Seminary and her Master of Arts in Government from Regent University.

She earned her law degree from Georgetown Law, where she was a Georgetown Law Merit Scholar. During law school, she clerked for the U.S. Department of Justice and the Senate Judiciary Committee. She is a Blackstone Legal Fellow and Mentor and is on the board of the Federalist Society’s D.C. Young Lawyers Chapter.

We consider this call to service a temporary “leave of absence” and look forward to Kassie returning home to First Liberty in the future.

On behalf of everyone at First Liberty, we thank Kassie for her many years of faithful and exceptional service to our organization and to the mission of defending religious liberty in America.

Kassie, you are a blessing and a source of inspiration to many of us who’ve had the privilege of working with you. We wish you abundant success in your new mission. We pray God will continue using your talents, skills and professional career for His Glory and the protection of our country.
